Regina Caeli (2019)
unaccompanied choir SATB (3’)

This is the first (and shortest) of a projected series of settings of the four main Marian Antiphons, Latin hymns praising the Virgin Mary in use since the 13th century. The divided altos and tenors create a soft and ambient atmosphere with a falling pattern on the word ‘Alleluia’ for most of the piece, while the sopranos and basses trade lines addressing Mary as the ‘Queen of Heaven’.
